OOPS! Written by Alan Katz and illustrated by Edward Koren. Simon & Schuster Canada, 2008. $21.00 ages 6 and up

"I put froggy in my back pocket,
and he croaked
as loud as he could.
But when I forgot
and sat on a rock,
poor froggy
croaked
for good."

I have so many yellow ‘stickies’ attached to this fun book that I will be able to share whenever I visit classrooms…we will have a neverending supply of new poems to read and recite. There are cleanliness-obsessed parents, brothers who bother and sisters who scare, magic uncles, couch potatoes and alphabet soup. It seems that the final poem comes much too quickly. In fact, it does! The author adds a bonus section that promises prizes…but doesn’t deliver. What it does is dispense even more fun. Not content with one hundred poems, the author goes on to share some of life’s realities (his own life) with his readers. Enjoy!
