"There once was a bear so filled with love and
happiness that whenever he roamed the forest
and came across another living thing, he would
give it a hug."
Now, here's a book for 'huggers' like me! Bear loves to give 'big bear hugs' to everyone and everything he encounters on his jaunts through the forest...but he especially loves to hug trees. He's huge, but gentle and carries a flower, not a big stick. But, when he hugs rabbit, moose, bird, snake, skunk and beaver he makes them do double takes, while we just smile along at his 'beary' loving ways.
He does have a particular bent for trees...and he hugs them with great abandon. No matter the size, type or occasion, he hugs them all. And his days are good until a woodsman comes into the forest with his trusty axe and a need to fell a magnificent old tree. Bear is horrified, and so are we...when we see the anger he feels and the threat Bear poses for the unknowing man. Luckily it is not 'in his nature' to dispose of the man, so he does what Bear does best. He gives him a hearty ursine embrace.
Having never been hugged by a bear before, the man makes short work of sticking around, and is gone in a flash, axelss and breathing heavily. Bear knows just what to do to make the tree feel better. What do you think he did?
