When I work with kids in classrooms during poetry workshops, I love to share list poems. There are many, and they are so accessible to young readers and writers. In her new book, Georgia Heard has chosen a varied and wonderful assortment that I will find myself using constantly in future work with aspiring poets. They do, indeed, fall down the page and they prove to those of us who forget to look at the world with our hearts and our senses that there is so much to see and appreciate. Check for it at your local bookstore or at the public library if you have an itch to try your hand at putting words to paper. You will be inspired!
